In any case, it is important to emphasize that Art Basel Miami Beach is mainly a social event based on a common theme and that is art. Art Basel Miami Beach is the most important contemporary art exhibition in the United States, held annually in December in Miami, Florida. It is the sister event to Art Basel in Switzerland, the most prestigious art show in the world. Over the years, Art Basel Miami Beach has grown in popularity and size and is starting to upstage the original Art Basel.

The most renowned galleries and museums in Miami exhibit artwork from more than 2,000 artists selected from leading art galleries from all corners of the world. The event also features new and cutting edge artists and art dealers, allowing spectators to discover newer galleries, alternative art, public art projects and fresh faces in contemporary art.

Do not, however, mistake the event for merely a large art exhibition in Miami. This event includes all sorts of parties and get-togethers for people with art as common ground; it features film, music, architecture, and design. A place of cultural and social highlights of the year, where artists meet collectors and art dealers and where you can run into celebrities such as Sylvester Stallone, Brad Pitt, Calvin Klein, Stephen Dorff, John McEnroe, Jane Holzer, Naomi Campbell and many more.
