Each week selected for the Editor’s Choice is often full of aspects that are hard to put into words. The same goes for the week of Roman Jirků. Artistically, he did a great job and managed to include that something extra, which makes us revisit his week again and again. Roman entered the Week of Life project with style and we will be looking forward to his second attempt with great anticipation.

The premier week of Jiří Jedlička is the light among the swarm of gloomy weeks covered with snow and it gives us the feeling as if it were documented several months back. The opposite is true however and his ‘Number 1’shows us the life of people who do spend Christmas and the last day of the year on a board, though this time not overcoming snow-covered hills, but rather battling the wildest of ocean waves on a surf board. Jiří really approached the documentation of his set with great honesty and dedication to rules. Individual photos even show that discovering the Australian shore and its culture was an entertaining task for him. We look forward to visiting his swimming practices in his next sets.

Our hands and gestures sometimes reveal more about ourselves than we would like and can equally cause good and bad towards our surroundings. In any case, it is an important part of our body that plays a vital role in our lives and that is why we highly appreciate that Gabriela came up with the idea to focus on this body part in her first set. It’s evident she gave some thought to each photo she took, in order for the individual days, and the whole week for that matter, to make sense. On top of that, we cannot miss the fact that she documented her week in black and white, which in this case was the right choice.

Petra Šochmanová belongs among the group of mothers on maternity leave who has managed to present the life of her family in a humorous and original manner, mainly thanks to her two little girls that make it such an exciting story full of ‘little’ incidents that will be told again and again for many years to come. Her third week is no different and once again, it has been coated with a black and white layer, perfectly making the atmosphere of her week stand out.

It’s not always easy to drag around a heavy and expensive DSLR that you permanently have to take care of and pay attention to, so that you don’t leave it anywhere at the mercy of thieves. The solution to this problem is often a small compact camera that easily fits our pocket and makes us more mobile. Přemek Divácký was one to apply such a solution and decided to borrow a compact digital camera for documenting his third week. He managed to keep a very high technical quality standard of his week and what is more important – the quality of the content is just as good. We can only wait and see which camera he will choose for his upcoming week.
