Since joining the Week of Life project a year and a half ago, Petra Sochmanova has submitted 7 weeks. Today, there are many members, who have surpassed this number in their accounts, however, with Petra, we can be sure that every new week will be of great quality. Her weeks are mainly black and white, a specialty she is good at. This applies to her newest set as well called May and once again, we can see great composition, precise work with lights and a good eye for capturing the right moment. The latter is an important attribute, especially since most of the pictures involve little children, who at times can be extremely restless. Petra received appraisal once again and this lively week has been selected for the Editor’s Choice. Let us hope week number 8 comes sooner rather than later.

The number 43 marks the newest addition to the author’s portfolio, a week with the name May the one looking for infinity close his eyes! A great number let alone deserving of praise. It is not the first time Yveta Klusonova, the author of this week, has been selected for the Editor’s Choice and the reason is simple – it is the way she perceives and looks at the world around her and how she is able to transfer all that into the everyday mosaic of 9 photographs. Yveta does not stick to one style and usually let’s her fantasy go wild when editing. This week is specific for its nice light processing and fits perfectly with recent weather full of warm and shiny days.

Today, we have selected another newcomer who has impressed us with his first week. This time it is the week called Last week in March from Aneta Galisova. If this name seems a little familiar to you, then you are correct. Aneta is not only a beautiful young lady and a very good photographer based on her first week, but she is also a great singer, who advanced to the later rounds of the 2009 Pop Idol in the Czech Republic. Some times has passed, yet music has stated close to her heart as her week suggests. If Aneta continues to document her life in the future, we will surely witness some exciting weeks.

We live our lives and attend to our everyday worries. Suddenly one day, we get to experience something of extraordinary character we’ve only seen in movies or know from the media. For instance, Lukas Vesely traveled abroad to taste the atmosphere of the Big Apple. When you say the United States, you immediately think of the Statue of Liberty, Manhattan, Empire State Building, yellow cabs and many other indicators. Tourists visiting New York must all have problems with low disk space on memory cards, battery running low on cameras or a sore eyes attached to viewfinders. New York is simply a place which offers a lot to photograph. Lukas has shown us bits and pieces from this amazing atmosphere and squeezed them into a week of 9 photographs a day. The final selection must have been hard.

It has been some time since a newcomer was selected for the Editor’s Choice with his or her premiere week. This trend has been made obsolete by student Jakub Jira, who thought up the name Non-film for his week with which he entered the project. His set is well-done thanks to the black and white toning and the first few pictures immediately indicate that photography plays a major role in Jakub’s life. Additionally, every photo enthusiast must enjoy the legendary viewfinder camera from Leica. This camera was more than just made for street photography, which appears several times in this week, and we can only hope to see a new week from Jakub soon, perhaps this time on film.
